The forms I explore in my work change and morph as I explore the potential of what shapes clay can take. I tend towards functionality. Vessels of all kinds, from small sippers and tea cups, to bowls and plates, vases and pitchers, and Orbs of all sizes — these all appeal to me. I like having a place to put things – from my morning matcha to a beautiful arrangement of flowers when my garden is in full bloom.

I also am exploring more personal work that is inspired by my journaling. At the moment these are taking on the shape of urns or amphoras. I call these my Journal Urns where I explore the thoughts and reflections I have written about in my journals over the last several years. Sometimes questioning, sometimes reflective, I use words to imbue more meaning onto the forms using torn clay—mimicking the torn paper that I use to fill my journals.
