I have been drawn to the spherical shapes of orbs for their simplicity and how varried they can be. From layered and closed in, to open, simple spherical vessels, my orb series are all hand built of slabs and shaped by using both the interior and exterior of a half-circle stainless steel bowls to mold their shape.
My Urns have started to emerge as a spearate exploration of forms that express my thoughts more directly. I spend hours writing in journals that have become as much illustrated pages as they are expressions of what I am thinking and feeling. I tear and cut images and illustrations from ephemera and magazines to create pages that I can then write on. It seemed a natural progression to start to express those thoughts in my ceramic forms on torn clay.
