Windwood Studios is located on a 12-acre woodland parcel in Columbia County adjoining large tracts of historic land along the Hudson River. Nestled in amongst trees, and it provides the perfect place to work, yet is in close proximity to a studio that has both an Anagama and a train kiln where I can achieve the atmospheric effects that only wood can bring to the surface of a pot.
Next year the we plan to build a yurt pavilion and install our own wood fired kiln so stay tuned, I will be recording the process of building the yurt and the arrival of a Birkland kiln sometime in August.
I am so grateful to occupy this special place on the planet where I can share my continuing exploration of atmospheric pottery alongside the hawks, owls, piliated woodpeckers, deer, wild turkey, racoons and opossum who make their home alongside ours.
